The Alpha Course is open to everyone interested in exploring the meaning of life and discovering the relevance of the Christian faith. Alpha gives us an opportunity to get to know each other - followed by a video talk leading into small group discussions.

The Alpha course spread during the 1990s, initially in the UK and then internationally, as more and more people found it a helpful and informal way to discuss questions about the Christian faith.

There are now over 60,000 Alpha courses worldwide in over 166 countries, run in 75+ languages.

Today, more than 17 million people have participated in the Alpha Course. Alpha is supported by all the major Christian denominations.

Alpha runs for 10 weeks and everyone’s views and questions are important. No question is too simple.

What is the Alpha evening format?

We share desserts and refreshments together if you wish. Each week a short film is played. The films unpack the basics of the Christian faith, addressing questions such as Who is Jesus? How can we have faith? and How does God guide us?

After each film, there is space to talk through and look at a different question around faith and it is designed to spark conversation which will be guided by the hosts.

Why do the Alpha Course?

People come on the Alpha course for many different reasons; some have never been to church and want to investigate whether God exists, while others may have attended church for some time and want to further explore the relevance of the Christian faith to their daily lives.
